APMAA (Asia Pacific Management Accounting Association) Conference
In November Putney Breeze Director Chris Catto had the pleasure of participating in the 8th Annual Asia Pacific Management Accounting Association Conference held in Xiamen, China.
Participating at the conference ensures Putney Breeze keeps at the forefront of Business Performance management thinking globally. Participants at the conference came from all corners of the globe including Sweden, Canada, Italy, UAE, Nigeria, Japan, Malaysia, USA and UK.
Lead by APMAA President Professor Susumu Ueno (Konan University) and conference host Xiamen University’s Professor Yuanlue Fu, the conference focused on the latest thinking in optimizing management control and business performance.
Keynote speakers included Prof Michael Bromwich LSE (London School of Economics), Prof Thomas Hemmer Rice University (USA) and Liqun Cai CEO of Xiamen International Port Co Ltd.
Key trends and challenges in performance management include;
1) Leveraging information communication technology (ICT): connecting content and data structure with business purpose. Enabling repair, flexibility, internal and goal transparency through (ICT).
2) Optimising incentives and aligning management control mechanisms: Collaborating principles of managers, balancing long term goals and short term rewards.
3) Identifying Product profitability in new Economy: Making product development and product profitability decisions in the e-commerce environment.
The conference provided vehicle for thought leaders to share the latest thinking on business performance management. Chinese participant provided interesting insights in developments in local practices.
